If you want a fun, sunny time this ain’t it. Turn back now. If you’re up for feeling like you’re on drugs and drown in some gore, buckle up and let’s go. There’s not a great way to really describe this story. The summary above does a good job but it can’t capture the feeling and slow pacing. The lights, colors, and score make this one part King Crimson music video-the opening track, one part fantasy world, one part acid trip, and one part bloody, culty revenge flick. It’s Not Rated so you’re in for heaps of gore and some extra nudity versus an R-rated movie. (Though personally I feel nudity/sex is often rated much more harshly than it should be.) …

Pandorum (2009)

IMDB: [R] Two crew members of a spaceship wake up from hypersleep to discover that all their colleagues are missing. Despite this, it appears that they are not alone.

The perfect time to write about this is after watching for what must be a 5th time with some friends. A favorite genre in my home is science fiction thriller. This movie adds so much to love. It keeps you thinking, there’s fast paced action, psychological thrills, and some fantastic practical effects and makeup. …

Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart (2013)

IMDB: [PG] A 19th-century drama about a man whose heart was replaced with a clock when he was born. The situation dictates that he should avoid feeling strong emotions — love, most of all — but he just can’t keep his feelings under wraps.

I don’t feel it would be right to start a movie review blog without featuring one of the most beautiful and compelling stories I’ve watched. A stunning blend of music, drama, love, and tragedy. …

We’re doing movie reviews now?!

Much like most things in my life, my taste in movies can best be described as …. well … eclectic.  Part of being disabled and chronically ill means I have time. Of course not time that I can spend doing productive things. Hah! Nope, that takes too much energy and concentration. But I often have time to casually put on movies and T.V. and to form some opinions. Another part of being chronically ill is that my memory isn’t what it used to be. When asked “What movies do you like?” I’m often left going “Oh! Movies! I like movies.. you know.. the ones with the action and the sci fi and stuff.. those!”

This movie review blog will be one part journal and one part seeing things from my perspective. In reality I think my husband is tired of me telling him movie reviews for things he hasn’t seen and will never watch. Perhaps his eager “You should write movie reviews!” is just a way to stop me from talking his ear off. Although he does claim I’m good at writing and can “describe things in a way that gets you to understand the feeling of a movie.”

It’s important to note that people like what they like. I’ll be telling you what I don’t or do like, in addition to areas of improvement. I’ll be honest when there are things that have a special place in my heart despite any plot holes. *Cough* National Treasure *Cough* I love seeing stories told in a new way and feeling very “real” or visually stunning. Hello The Fall. But I also love a fun time! Throw some B Movies my direction! We’ll sit and riff them Mystery Science Theater 3000 style. I also like to view movies within their own genre. Can Deep Blue Sea be compared to Jaws? I’d give them both 10 hearts!

Grab your popcorn and let’s get watching!
